MJSP launches call for publication in the Thematic Dossier “Amazônia - Segurança e Soberania” in REVISTA SUSP
Brasília, 06/26/2023 - The Ministry of Justice and Public Security of Brazil, invites researchers (students and professors) and operators of public security and the criminal justice system to present proposals for articles, essays and experience reports for the thematic dossier "Amazônia: Segurança e Soberania" (Amazônia: Security and Sovereignty), which will be published in the Public Security System Magazine (REVISTA SUSP).
The document aims to give visibility to the production of knowledge about the challenges and initiatives related to the confrontation of crimes that affect the states of the Amazon and their populations. Thus, it will be possible to contribute to the production and dissemination of evidence necessary for the orientation, elaboration and execution of public policies that contribute to the improvement of security in the region.
"Effective, efficient and integrated public policies depend on quality information and the production of knowledge to guide the decision making of formulators, managers and executors of these policies. The Amazon dossier - Security and Sovereignty will contribute to the systematization and dissemination of information and knowledge that can contribute to improving security in the region and its populations”, analyzes the Director of Education and Research at the Ministry of Justice and Public Security of Brazil, Michele dos Ramos.
With this, it aims to promote the scientific development, training and qualification of professionals who are part of Susp, above all, by establishing intellectual property and scientific improvement of Public Security.
Dossier: Amazônia - Security and Sovereignty
REVISTA SUSP is a technical-scientific, interdisciplinary journal, established within the scope of the National Secretariat for Public Security (Senasp/MJSP). The journal aims to publish original and unpublished productions, resulting from theoretical studies and specialized knowledge of public security and produced by national and foreign researchers and/or institutions.
The Dossier will bring together theoretical knowledge and technical-scientific analyzes produced by researchers and professionals from Susp and the criminal justice system that dialogue with the public security actions developed within the scope of the Legal Amazon.
Theoretical and/or technical production should preferably be linked to one of the following thematic axes:
- Environmental crimes related to illegal mining, illegal logging and illegal hunting and fishing activities;
- Money laundry;
- Human trafficking;
- Activities of organized crime and border regions;
- Sexual and commercial exploitation of children and adolescents;
- Drug trafficking;
- Protection of socio-environmental defenders;
- Protection of indigenous peoples and traditional communities;
- Regional and international cooperation to confront environmental crimes; and
- Trafficking in arms and ammunition.
