Homemade explosives utilized in terrorist attacks have gained prominence in many countries, causing deaths, injuries, destruction and panic. These substances are easy to make, and can be synthesized using everyday chemicals, can be synthesized using everyday chemicals. In this sense, this study aims to present a bibliographic review of the main homemade explosives worldwide. The study will describe their characteristics, the ways used to synthesize them, as well as identify explosives precursors. The results will show the need to update the Brazilian norm and regulation for chemical control, following the worldwide effort to restrict access to explosives precursors that are used to create homemade explosives.
