About the Journal
Revista SUSP
Revista Susp is a technical-scientific, interdisciplinary journal, instituted within the national scope of Public Security (Senasp/MJSP). The journal aims to publish original and unpublished productions, resulting from theoretical studies and specialized knowledge of public security and produced by researchers and/or (inter)national institutions. With this, it aims to promote the scientific development, training and qualification of professionals who are part of Susp, above all, by establishing intellectual property and scientific improvement of Public Security.
In this sense, it publishes original articles, literature reviews, experience reports, technical notes, reviews, scientific reviews and interviews, published in printed and electronic formats.
Peer Review Process
A constant concern of Revista SUSP is the quality of published texts, such as:
- The originals will be submitted to the approval of recognized specialists in the treated themes. The works will be sent for evaluation without authorship identification, (registered in the journal's electronic publishing system, the Open Journal Systems - OJS) to ensure the blind peer review process.
- Author: Natural person responsible for creating the intellectual or artistic content of a document.
Not to be confused with collaborators.
- For articles with multiple authorship, it is necessary to inform the order of presentation of the authors and declaration of each one authorizing the publication;
- A maximum of five authors are admitted, and who have effectively participated in the preparation of the manuscript.
- Manuscripts will be published in the original submission language, with preference for works in Portuguese, English and Spanish. Submissions in other languages may not be processed.
- Published works become the property of Revista SUSP.
- There will be no fees for submitting, revising or publishing articles.
- The opinions expressed in the articles are the sole responsibility of their authors.
- The journal will classify the evaluated submissions, according to the following sections:
- Original article:
- Includes texts that contain original and unpublished reports of completed studies or research;
- The person responsible for submitting the article must remove from the properties of the Word program (".docx" format) any and all authorship identifications;
- Submission in "Continuous Flow";
- Main section of the journal, for original and unpublished articles, preferably adopting the tamplate;
- The main authorship of the works must be by researchers with at least a doctor's degree;
- By original and unpublished, it is understood that the works are NOT being evaluated for publication in any other medium;
- Ethical issues involving research with human beings are the sole responsibility of the authors and must comply with the principles contained in the Declaration of Helsinki of the World Medical Association (1964, reformulated in 1975, 1983, 1989, 1989, 1996 and 2000) and in resolution 196 of the Council National Health;
- Essay: reflection on a certain theme, without exhausting it, it is not investigative and brings the author's opinion;
- Translation: text that covers the interpretation of the meaning of a text, written in a language other than Portuguese, and that is relevant to the area of public security;
- Experience report: original communications about professional and research experiences in public security;
- Literature review: text with all existing information about a publication in an impartial and complete manner. The review must be done formally and meticulously. The text must be presented in a critical and not only descriptive way, from the author's point of view, the state of the art of one of the specific areas or subareas. It is essential that, in the referred area, the author is a proven qualified and experienced specialist;
- Review: analysis of a distinctive work, an informative composition without opinions. It can be a text, film, music and any other forms that have public safety as their subject;
- Technical note: text prepared by technicians specialized in a given subject and contains a complete analysis of the entire context, and must contain history and legal basis, based on relevant information;
- Scientific criticism: critical analysis of scientific texts in the field of public security;
- Interview: interviews with prominent national and international personalities in public safety.
Guidelines for reviewers are provided automatically by the publishing operating system when the guest reviewer is available for review. They include topics such as confidentiality, conflicts of interest, and guidance on the practical aspects of review.
The revised manuscript received from the authors is then reviewed by the editor or by the same reviewers to ensure that the requirements have been met. From submission to editorial decision, the entire process can be electronically tracked by the author, consulting the website using the username and password that will be provided when registering.
The editorial decision considers the following criteria: compliance with the journal's rules, originality, relevance and scientific contribution to the theme. This decision is independent of commercial or any other competing interest. The final editorial decision and the reasons for it are always communicated to the authors.
